Trench Mob of the Week
Parkview Panther Offensive Line - In a physical contest against Camden County they paved the way for over 350 yards rushing and over 40 carries. Not only that, but with the score tied at 17 in overtime they opened up the holes for Parkview to get the go ahead score and 24-17 win! Next up is a trip to East Coweta with a trip to the Round of 8 on line.
Class 7A
Cody Brown (Parkview) - The senior running back and Tennessee commit did not want to let his career at Parkview end. In return he carried the rock over forty times for 250+ yards and three touchdowns in their 24-17 OT win over Camden County. Brown and the Panthers will be a tough out for anyone in these playoffs!
Class 6A
Phillip Michael Collins (Cambridge) - The Bears first round matchup took them on the road to Kell and PMC made sure the ride home would be a good one. He rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns in the 36-14 win. Next up for Cambridge is a trip to last year’s 5A champion, Buford!
Class 5A
Dennis O’Shea (St. Pius X) - The Golden Lions and O’Shea had little trouble in the first round. O’Shea showed off his versatility by running and throwing for two touchdowns apiece in the 31-6 win over Loganville. The Lions have now earned themselves a matchup with perennial power Cartersville in the 2nd round!
Class 4A
Shaquille Ancrum (Fayette County) - It’s not often a player from the losing team is the Player of the Week, but Ancrum had an incredible performance for the Tigers. In a 41-35 loss to North Oconee he had over 400 yards of total offense and scored four of his team’s five touchdowns. An incredible cap to Ancrum’s high school career!
Class 3A
Kionte Strozier (Carver) - Strozier led Panthers to a tough win over Region 8’s Hart County 32-21. In the win Strozier had three passing touchdowns and one with his feet to push Carver on to round two. Carver now gets a shot a Cherokee-Bluff who only has one loss on the season!
Class 2A
Luke Holloway (Fannin County) - Holloway and the Rebels took a little bit to get going, but when it mattered most they got the job done. Trailing by two scores in the fourth quarter, Holloway scored two of his three touchdowns to give Fannin County the 28-21 win over Pace Academy. With the win the Rebels will host Heard County!
Class 1A Public
Caleb Willis (Lincoln County) - Nothing makes a quarterback feel more at ease then having a guy who you can throw it up to. That is exactly what Lincoln County has in Willis! In their 29-13 win, Willis hauled in two long touchdown passes as they beat Chattahoochee County! They will need more of that when they face Hancock Central this week!
Class 1A Private
Tre Hawkins (Athens Academy) - The Spartans needed every bit of Hawkins’ effort as they won a back and forth matchup with Mount Vernon. Hawkins finished the night with four total touchdowns, but none bigger than the one with :17 seconds left to force overtime in the 49-42 win! Hawkins and the Spartans now faces the high scoring offense of Fellowship Christian in the 2nd round.
