First Round Playoffs

Trench Mob of the Week

Calhoun Offensive Line - The Yellow Jacket offensive line was nothing short of dominant on Friday night. Over 200 yards on the ground for their lead back, while their QB was kept upright all night!

Gordon Lee Offensive Line - One of the most impressive run games in the state, the Trojans O-LIne paved the way for SEVEN rushing touchdowns as they won 56-0 over Georgia Military College!

Parkview Offensive Line - No doubt there was a commitment to the run game for the Panthers as these big fellas ran the ball 45+ times for over 300 yards and helped pave the way for the 24-17 over time win!

 Class 7A

Sam Horn (Collins Hill) - Horn took little time adjusting to playoff football! Against Alpharetta he threw for 286 yards and six...yes six touchdown passes in the 42-7 win for the Eagles!

Zane Touchton (Colquitt County) Touchton was filling in for the injured Xavier Williams who did not play. Touchton did quite well going throwing only 2 incompletions and going for almost 300 yards and 4 TD’s in the 49-3 win!

Cody Brown (Parkview) - FORTY carries! Brown carried the load for 256 yards, and three touchdowns! The biggest of his touchdowns was a 3 yard run in the first overtime to give the Panthers a 24-17 win!

Phillip Michael Collins (Cambridge) - Collins and the Bears came away with a huge 36-14 win over Kell. He went for 180 yards and three touchdowns to push Cambridge on to the second round!

Caleb McDowell (Lee County) - We probably aren’t done seeing this name throughout the playoffs! McDowell rushed for five touchdowns, all of which were in the first half as Lee County had a 49-3 lead at the half in their 49-17 win!

Class 5A

Jaydon Fain (Eastside) - Nothing better than drilling the game winning field goal as time expires. That is exactly what Fain did as he pushed the Eagles through to the 2nd round with a 3-0 win over SW Dekalb!

Maurice Turner (Coffee) - In a great first round matchup with Ola and the score locked at 7,  Turner who already had one TD on the night, scored his 2nd and 3rd TD of the night as the Trojans pulled away to win 31-7!

Dennis O’Shea (St. Pius X) - The signal caller for the Golden Lions made sure they advanced in these playoffs. O’Shea used his arms and legs as he threw for 2 TD’s, and ran for 2 morre in the 31-6 win!

Owen Brooker (NW Whitfield) - Brooker and the Bruins found themselves trailing Stephenson by 11 points in the fourth quarter. But the QB led two scoring drives to give NW Whitfield the 28-24 win!

Nicholas Price (Hapeville) - In a defensive battle with Heritage, Price led the Hornet defense to four quarters of scoreless defense by picking off two interceptions on the night and securing the 6-0 victory!

Shaquille Ancrum (Fayette County) - Ancrum and the Tigers lost a heartbreaker to North Oconee in a 41-35 shootout. But the senior running back had a gutsy performance taking 38 carries for 364 yards and 3 touchdowns on the night!

 Class 3A

Javin Whatley (Rockmart) - The Yellow Jackets offense was explosive on Friday and it typically included Whatley in the end zone on Friday night. The QB had six total touchdowns, one of which was a 90 yard kick return for a TD in the 48-35 win!

Darius Johnson (Oconee County) - Johnson showed he can make plays both ways on Friday night. On offense he had three catches for 70+ yards and a touchdown, and on defense he had a big interception in the 31-7 over Westminster!

Luke Holloway (Fannin County) - With his team trailing 21-7 Holloway got the Rebels offense moving. He finished the night with three total touchdowns including the game winner late in the fourth quarter!

Ladarius Caesar (Early County) - The Bobcats got things going early on Saturday as Caesar scored three of his four touchdowns in the first half! The running back went well over 150 yards as Early County won 48-7!

Tucker Hendrix (Bremen) - Nothing like a last second win in the playoffs. Locked in at 21 with Elbert County and Hendrix took it into the endzone with just 11 seconds left to push the Blue Devils on to the 2nd round!

 Class 1A Public

Caleb Willis (Lincoln County) - Just throw it up to Willis and he will take care of the rest! Willis hauled in two jump balls for touchdowns as the Red Devils beat Chattahoochee County 29-13!

 Class 1A Private

Murphy Reeves (Fellowship Christian) - We can’t keep Reeves off this list and he can’t stay out of the end zone. In the win over Mount Paran he scored three of his four touchdowns in the first half giving the Paladins a huge lead!

Patrick Shelley (Darlington) - Shelley led the Tigers to a road victory over Mt. Pisgah 28-21. He showed off his arm and legs as he ran for two scores and threw for another as Darlington advances to the 2nd round!
