Class 7A
Jordan McDonald (Milton) - You could tell early on in the night that McDonald was going to be a big part of Milton’s offensive game plan. He touched the ball early and often scoring all three of his and Milton’s touchdowns in the first half. Taking on more of Roswell’s defensive attention, he opened up things for Devin Farrell and the Eagle’s passing game. He easily surpassed the 100 yard mark and had a ton of yard after contact in the 20-14 region win!
Class 6A
Jamarion and Jaylan Love (Douglas County) - Douglas County has had quite the season and have set themselves up for a run at the region championship. The Love Brothers helped continue the Tigers solid defensive play as they took back to back pick interceptions in for scores as the Tigers rolled to a 41-6 win over Dalton!
Class 5A
AJ Wilkerson (Coffee) - In what could have arguably been the best game of the state last Friday, Wilkerson directed his offense to 45 points in the win over Veterans. Trailing multiple times in the second half, Wilkerson continually came up clutch in tying the game back up to force overtime. He had over 150 yards passing and scored two touchdowns of his own in the 45-38 win over a solid Veterans club!
Class 4A
Lincoln Parker (Marist) - The most dominant defense in the state was on full display last Thursday. Seeing them in person, you get to hear the pads pop, and see the closing speed which makes it easier to believe that they haven’t given up a TD all season long. Parker is a big part of that defense, and offensively he made the most of his carries rushing for two 30+ yard touchdowns, most of which came after contact!
Class 3A
Jayquan Smith (Cherokee Bluff) - Cherokee Bluff has had quite the season, and continued that on Friday night to stay as one of the state’s few unbeatens. It was a region showdown with Dawson County and Smith saved one his best performances for when his team needed him most. He rushed for over 300 yards, carrying the ball 30+ times, and finding the end zone four times in the 28-27 win!
Class 2A
Chief Borders (Heard County) - Class 2A Region 5 is as solid as they come, and Chief and the Braves came up big on Friday beating Haralson County 26-12. Haralson County has had their way offensively with most everyone this season, but Borders stepped up to the tune of 21 tackles, three of which came for a loss, and still managed to score a touchdown on offensive to give Heard County a big win as they work towards the playoffs!
Class 1A Public
Brantley Shiver (Pelham) - Terrell County rolled into town looking to pull off the big upset of Pelham. The Hornet signal caller was not about to let that happen as he put up remarkable numbers leading the Pelham offense to 50 points on the night. He threw for over 300 yards and passed for five touchdowns as Pelham sent a message to the rest of 1A that you better score if you want to play with them!
Class 1A Private
Carter Allen (Savannah Christian) - A top 10 showdown on the coast, and Allen made sure that the Raiders came out on top. The offense got started and didn’t look back as they racked up 49 points in the win over Aquinas. Allen himself showed off his versatility as he had two rushing touchdown and two receiving touchdowns. SCPS looks to continue the explosive offense and win the Region 3 crown as they host Savannah Country Day in two weeks!
