Georgia Prep’s Week 2 Games of the Week
Georgia Prep’s Week 2 Game of the Week present by Thompsons Frame and Gallery
Class 7A - North Forsyth over Harrison
For the second week in a row the North Forsyth Raider defense held their opponent to single digits. Their dominant effort of two forced fumbles, three sacks, and less than 60 yards of total offense ensured the victory over defending state champion Harrison. The Raiders are 2-0 on the year and don’t look to be slowing down any time soon.
Class 6A - River Ridge Knights over Woodstock
Gutsy is the only way to describe the Knights win over Class 7A Woodstock. River Ridge was winless against Cherokee County teams heading into Friday’s matchup, but a steady rushing attack and relentless defense helped them find their way to 2-0 this season.
Class 5A - Northgate over Locusts Grove
This might have been the game of the week for the entire state. This game had everything you could ask for, explosive offense plays, big time defensive stops, pressure fill kicks. Ultimately the Vikings made one final stop on Locust Grove’s 2-PT conversion attempt to secure the win.
Class 4A East Hall over West Hall
It took a little while for the Vikings to get going, but once they found the pedal there was no letting off the gas. Led by standout QB Clete Cooper, East Hall scored 30 straight points and held off West Hall for a big win in this rivalry game.
Class 3A - White County over Hart County
Whoever had the ball last seemed like they were going to win this one. An incredible performance by both offenses to score what seemed like 3 or 4 game winning touchdowns. Ultimate White County would win behind the refuse to lose attitude of QB, JBen Haynes.
Class 2A - Rabun County over Prince Avenue Christian
It’s hard to pick against a team that gets the win in front of a nationally televised audience. It looked like Rabun County would win going away, but PACS and Brock Vandagriff stormed back to tie the game at 31 only for Gunner Stockton to have the final answer with a TD pass in the back left corner of the endzone.
Class 1A Public - Social Circle over Providence Christian
A 10 point halftime lead was not safe for Providence Christian as the Redskins stormed back in the second half to set themselves up for a game winning field goal with .02 seconds left on the clock. Aaron Aune knocked it through the uprights to give Social Circle it’s first win of the year.
Class 1A Private - Mt. Pisgah over Mt. Paran
In the battle of the “Mount P’s”, it was Pisgah came away with the last laugh. The Patriots fell behind early only to score 21 unanswered points. They were able to keep the Eagles at bay for most of the second half. The Patriots hope to continue the momentum for next week’s game at Walker.
