Georgia Preps Player of the Week
Week 2
Class 7A
Nyland Green of Newton High - Class of 2021
Green showed you why he has offers from everyone in the country. He ended up with a receiving and special teams touchdown. Green also shut down one half of the field, and we can probably expect that for most Friday nights. Newton is going to be a tough out this season with Green on the field.
Class 6A
Justin Williams of East Paulding High School - Class of 2020
Williams managed to find the end zone four times on Friday night while totaling 170 rushing yards in the win over Campbell. He added in 64 receiving yards to prove his versatility. Williams seems poised for a breakout junior year.
Class 5A
Devonte Ross of Cartersville High School - Class of 2021
Ross seems to be able to find space in just about any situation, and is a highlight reel waiting to happen. After a big junior year, defenses know what he is capable of and it still doesn’t seem to matter. Ross is a huge part of what Cartersville does and this impressive 60 game regular season win streak that they are on.
Class 4A
Kobe Jones of LaGrange High School - Class of 2022
Much has been made about this being Jones’ first season playing football, however, if you didn’t hear that you probably wouldn’t know it to be true. Jones has made an immediate impact at LaGrange among a team with many key contributors. The basketball team may miss him in the late fall, but the football team sure is glad to have him out.
Class 3A
Greater Atlanta Christian School Defense
This defense almost doesn’t feel real. They have forced twelve, yes TWELVE turnovers in just 8 quarters while allowing only three points thus far. It will be interesting to see if they can keep this up, but from what we have seen thus far, we have no reason not to think that they will!
Class 2A
Gunner Stockton of Rabun County High School - Class of 2022
Stockton has quickly become and household name across the state and country, and rightfully so. He picked up this season where he left off with continually putting yards and points on the board for the Wildcat offense. Over 300 yards of total offense and four TD’s was enough to give Rabun County the win on national television.
Class 1A Public
Aaron Aune of Social Circle High School - Class of 2022
After missing the extra point on its first touchdown, it is only fitting that the Redskins got the win with a last second field goal. Bottom of the ninth, walk off home run, and last second field goal are things we dream of as kids. Credit to Aune for coming through in the clutch and give Social Circle it’s first win of the year.
Class 1A Private
Josh Dallas of Trinity Christian School - Class of 2022
Trinity Christian is rolling so far this season and Dallas is a big reason as to why. On the receiving end from his twin brother, Josh Dallas made the most of his three reception, 100 yard night by find the end zone twice. With more tough matchups looming for TCS, Dallas will play a vital role in seeing their success continue.
