Georgia Preps Semifinal Round Players of the Week

Trench Mob of the Week

Marist Offensive Line - The big fellas up front for the War Eagles made a way for whoever was carrying the rock behind them. Marist scored SIX rushing touchdowns on Friday night in their way to an impressive victory. The War Eagles were up 35-0 midway through the 3rd and were able to pull their starters for most of the 4th quarter. They now are set to face a Jefferson team were controlling the clock will be huge as Jefferson has one of the most explosive offenses in the state!

Class 6A/7A

Caleb McDowell (Lee County) - Another week of the playoffs and another multiple touchdown game for McDowell. This time he totaled four, running for three and catching another in the 35-14 win over Westlake. McDowell is closing in on 20 touchdowns in the just the playoffs which would be an impressive feat. If he does that look for Lee County to claim their 3rd state championship in 4 years!

Class 4A/5A

Evan Slocum (Cartersville) - How bout this for a week? Sign a division 1 scholarship, find out you will be filling in at running back for your team’s star player in the semifinal round of the playoffs! This was Slocum’s week as he got the bulk of carries filling in for star RB Quante Jennings. He came just shy of 100 yards on the ground, but scored the biggest TD of the night on a 40 yard screen pass for the go ahead score in the 24-17 win over Coffee! Cartersville looks to take down its’ 3rd straight Region 1 team and claim its first state championship since 2016!

Class 2A/3A

Charlie Dixon (Callaway) - Dixon has had an incredible season, and seems to be playing his best football right now. He ran for well over 100 yards on Friday night and another three touchdowns in the Cavaliers 41-17 win over a quality Rabun County team! If Dixon repeats this in the state final he will have double digit TD’s in the playoffs even though Callaway has only played three games up to this point. The Cavs offense supports Dixon well as he has plenty of playmakers around him in Jalin Shephard and Demetrius Coleman!

Class 1A Public/Private

Danny Baird (Trinity Christian) - A different playmaker for the Lions with each week. This time Baird, who has been nominated to win this award twice before, caught two touchdown passes and had two interceptions on defense as Trinity Christian beat Calvary Day 17-7! Trinity Christian will need to continue its momentum with Josh Dallas, David Dallas, Tyson Wall, and Baird as they head into the state championship game against Prince Avenue!
