Team Preview: Richmond Hill Wildcats

Richmond Hill moves up to Class 7A this season and will be met with opportunities to prove itself through a stout region slate. The Wildcats had some growing pains a year ago after a solid 8-2 season in 2020, and region championship in 2019. Ty Goldrick Jr. returns as the starting QB and looks to have a big year with Ravon Grant Jr. and Zion Gillard coming back at the skill postions. The Wildcats will challenge themselves in the non-region portion of their schedule in hopes of preparing them with a big finish of Valdosta, Lowndes, and Colquitt County.

Keys to Success:
"We had a large number of freshmen & sophomores start / get significant playing time for us last year who have gotten tremendously better this off-season. Our focus is to continue developing our young talent each week along with a good group of experienced seniors leading our team.”

Season Outlook:

“As a new member of Region 1-7A, we intentionally scheduled some tough south GA non-region opponents to give our young group challenges early into the season. This will pay off for us in the back end as we open up region play at home against Camden, then Valdosta & Lowndes on the road, and finish up with Colquitt at home.”

Game of the Year:

Richmond Hill makes the jump to 7A this year and joins one of the toughest regions across the state. Lowndes, Valdosta, and Colquitt County have all made deep playoff runs in the past few years. We will go with the October 14th clash at Valdosta as both teams make the jump to 7A and look to prove themselves. A win over Valdosta will go a long way to show the Wildcats belong among the state’s elite.
