Week 8 Helmet Stickers Announced

Check out the standout performers from Week 8 games all across the state of Georgia. Vote in the polls below for one player to be named the Player of the Week for their classification. Voting closes every Monday at 11:59PM EST.

Class 7A Helmet Stickers

Ben Guthrie - Alpharetta - Quarterback
Guthrie continued his incredible play after throwing for over 300 yards and accounting for 3 total touchdowns in a loss versus Milton last week. He led the Raiders to a fast start as they lead Woodstock 37-0 after two quarters of play. The junior threw for five touchdowns on the night as Alpharetta won 51-7.

Gavin Morris. -South Forsyth - Running Back
In one of the best game of the night, Morris delivered when the War Eagles needed it most. After the defense made a stop to start the overtime period, Morris took a handoff in untouched from 12 yards out to give South Forsyth the 30-24 victory over West Forsyth. In the slugfest, Morris averaged just over 5 yards a carry keeping his team undefeated in region play.

Dwight Phillips Jr. - Pebblebrook - Running Back
Filling in for an injured backfield, the sophomore had himself quite the night. Phillips Jr. rushed for almost 240 yards on just 13 carries. He scored two touchdowns on the night on two long runs showing off his breakaway speed. Pebblebrook defeated perennial Region 2 power, East Coweta 38-21.

Class 6A Helmet Stickers

Reece Fountain - Rome - Quarterback
The sophomore quarterback is quickly making a name for himself around the state. Fountain helped the Wolves continue their winning ways as he threw 440 yards on 18 of 22 passing for 5 touchdown passes in a 48-7 win over East Paulding. Rome is now on a three game winning streak as they head into their bye week. 

Tristan Summers - Creekview - Wide Receiver
A big night for the senior wide receiver as summers helped the Grizzlies knock off the defending region champions, River Ridge. He hauled in two touchdown passes and threw for another in the 38-17 victory. 

Kasen Weisman - South Paulding - Quarterback
The unquestioned leader of the Spartan army led South Paulding to bounce back from last week’s verse Carrollton. Weisman kept his offense rolling all night with both his arms and legs and the game was never in doubt for the 28-6 upset win over Douglas County.

Class 5A Helmet Stickers

Gage Leonard - Calhoun - Running Back/Defensive Back
In a game featuring two of the premier Class 5A programs, Leonard came up big on both sides of the ball. Leonard came up with an incredible one handed interception to stop a 2nd quarter Blessed Trinity drive. He finished two Yellow Jacket drives with rushing scores to give Calhoun a 32-27 win.

Austin Williams - Whitewater - Quarterback
The senior quarterback had the Whitewater offense moving and in a hurry as they beat McIntosh 55-7. Williams rushed for two touchdowns including and 85 yarder on a option keeper. He threw for another touchdown as the Wildcats moved their win streak to 6. 

John Alan Richter - Jones County - Quarterback
Jones County avoided the upset in a thrilling 48-42 win against Ola. Richter came up with some big plays as well as throwing for over 300 yards and two touchdowns. After throwing for a TD to get within two with .17 seconds left, he hauled in the reception for the two point conversion to send the game into overtime.

Class 4A Helmet Stickers

Miller Grove Defense 
The Wolverine defense created much havoc on Friday night as Miller Grove beat undefeated Stephenson 34-7. The defense have over 10 tackles for a loss, created three turnovers, and took one interception back for a touchdown. Stephenson had one last opportunity in the final seconds, but the Wolverine secondary broke up the pass in the end zone.

Justin Thomas - Benedictine - Running Back
Benedictine remained undefeated in GHSA play with a 49-6 win over Jenkins where the game was never in doubt. Thomas showed off his explosive play ability being the receiving end of two long passes from Holden Geriner, and then rushed for two touchdowns giving him four on the night. 

Tre Reece - Jefferson - Running Back
Reece was already a major piece in the Dragon’s offense before Sammy Brown went out with an injury. In a tight game with Cedar Shoals, Reece solidified the ground attack for the Dragons finishing the night with two rushing touchdowns leading Jefferson to remain undefeated in a 34-9 win.

Class 3A Helmet Stickers

Crisp County Defense
The Cougars defense gave up two early touchdowns and then shutout Peach County as they scored 27 unanswered points. The Cougars defense blocked a field goal and put an exclamation point on the 27-14 win with a pick six as they stayed unbeaten in region play. 

Tyler Griffin - Southeast Bulloch - Athlete
Griffin led the Yellow Jackets to bounce back from a loss a week ago in a blowout win over Savannah. He showed big play ability on multiple fronts as he returned a punt for a touchdown and had over 100 yards rushing with at least one touchdown. 

Mason Parker - Ringgold - Quarterback
Ringgold has their perfect season put to the test, and Mason Parker led the Tigers to a hard fought 24-17 victory over Lafayette. Parker started and finished the game with touchdown throws to give himself two on the night.

Class 2A Helmet Stickers

Gunner Stockton - Rabun County - Quarterback
This one is as easy as it gets, when you break the record for most touchdowns in GHSA history, you get a helmet sticker. Stockton totaled SIX touchdowns on the night giving him 221 for his career while the Wildcats beat Grovetown 45-14. 

Clay Hyatt - Haralson County - Athlete
For the second year in a row Haralson County has upended Callaway in region play. This time it came in the tune of a statement as the Rebels won 42-14. The senior Quarterback/Running back accounted for four of Haralson County’s six touchdowns in the win. 

Shannen White - Thomasville - Quarterback
After winning all but one game in a stacked non region schedule, the Bulldogs racked up their second region blowout win in a row. This time a 42-7 win over Worth County. The senior quarterback led the Thomasville offense to a 35-0 halftime lead and threw for three touchdowns himself.

Class 1A Public Helmet Stickers

Tanner Langley - Bowdon - Quarterback/Defensive End
Langley was an impact player on both sides of the ball on Friday night as the Red Devils came away with a 21-7 win over North Cobb Christian. On defense Langley registered two sacks on the night, and offensively he had two rushing touchdowns with the second coming from 50 yards out. 

Dalen Cobb - Washington-Wilkes - Quarterback
The Tigers reeled off their sixth straight victory with a 34-6 win over Greene County. Cobb was a big factor as he used his feet for two rushing touchdowns in the first quarter. Cobb would then show off his arm with a deep passing touchdown to put the game out of reach. 

Dreylan Martin - Commerce - Running Back
The senior running back had close to 150 rushing yards as he led the Tigers to a 28-20 region win over Towns County. Martin found the end zone for three of his team’s four touchdowns in the win. 

Class 1A Private Helmet Stickers

David Dallas - Trinity Christian - Quarterback
Par for the course with this Trinity Christian offense as they put up sixty three points in the win over Whitefield Academy. Dallas continues to impress as he threw for four touchdowns on the night. Through seven games, Dallas has led this offense to average an absurd 53 points per game.

Aaron Philo - Prince Avenue Christian - Quarterback
Want more offense? Philo has filled in nicely in his first year as the Wolverines quarterback. On Friday he threw for four touchdowns and rushed for another as Prince Avenue won the backyard brawl for the second year in a row with a 49-13 win over Athens Academy.

Zach Jackson - Holy Innocents - Defensive Back/Wide Receiver
The win was never really in question for the Bears they took down Providence Christian 45-7. Jackson showed why he plays both ways on Friday night. He put the first touchdown on the board hauling in a long touchdown catch, and then on defense he took an interception back for the touchdown give him two on the night.
